  • Top 300 comics for December

The Top 300 Comics for December 2003 have been released.

December is when “Job Wanted” was published. Back when I first assembled the team for JW, the numbers on monthly comics were so low that if an independent book could sell 1100 copies it would place amongst the top 300. Even though that’s only 22 copies per state, that’s a hard number to reach…but it’s not an impossible goal. I still believe that, even though we didn’t reach it.

December was a better month than usual, at least at the top. The hot books cleaned up with astronomical sales, but then the numbers drop pretty fast. What’s amazing is that December is right in-between streetdates for JLA/Avengers, so even though that book does not appear on the December list it is also gobbling up a lot of retailer investment.

If you go to Amazon.com and type in “Old Fart” in the product search, you will find the company’s birthday wish for founder Jeff Bezos!

  • All right Brad!

Brad is my favorite character in Luann, so it’s nice to see something going right for him.

At least, in the few seconds before her ex-boyfriend beats him.
