Finally… the Simpsons movie
Posted on February 12th, 2004 No commentsSeriously. The site won’t be permanent but you temporily find stuff here on Yahoo news.
Thank to Jonah Goldberg for notifying the world on the Corner. He found it in a Slashdot article.
Further rot is here.

Terrifying!
Posted on February 12th, 2004 No commentsI don’t know how this Guess The Dictator/Sit-Com Character works, but it is eerily accurate. You choose a sitcom character or a dictator and then answer the questions.
I selected a character I shouldn’t have chosen because I don’t know enough about the character (does he have siblings, does he have a job, etc.). However, within 20 questions, up pops the computer’s first guess: “I think you’re Boner from Growing Pains.” AND THAT WAS EXACTLY RIGHT!
I’m going to go crawl under my blanket of fear.

Evanier fever is preferable
Posted on February 12th, 2004 No commentsMark Evanier’s third collection of POV columns will be released under the title “SuperHeroes In My Pants”. I prefer Evanier fever to that condition.
POV is, or was, a column regularly published in Comics Buyers Guide. Some of those are re-printed here and some come from the online editions found on ME’s website. The man has experience in this business. He has experience in many businesses.
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the endangered species, the professional writer.
If you want a copy, ME will tell you where to get it. The collection is published by Twomorrows Publishing, also known mainly for being Roy Thomas’s brainchild, publishing “Alter Ego” magazine, and “The Jack Kirby Collector”.

DNAgents tradepaperback to be released
Posted on February 12th, 2004 No commentsIn a bout of real news about Mark Evanier it is revealed that the first in a series of tradepaperbacks reprinting DNAgents, which Evanier wrote, will be released through About Comics.
Each volume will contain 176 pages (or around six issues of the original comics) in a 7.5″ by 5.5″ page format and include an afterword by [Mark Evanier] and leftover sketches by Will and others. Retail price will be $9.95 for each, and the first DNAgents will be out in June with the first Crossfire collection to follow not long after.
It sounds like a good deal to me, although I always prefer my reprints in full color. Evanier’s site has more information about the DNAgents and Crossfire titles. There is also an About Comics website.

Mark Evanier should shut the heck up
Posted on February 12th, 2004 No commentsME was going to a car wash the other day to fill his gas tank, which was “just about on Empty” and of course to get it cleaned off. He had it filled with Super-Unleaded.
A few minutes later as I went to tip the attendant and get my clean, wet car, it suddenly dawned on me that $29.65 was darn cheap for a full tank of gas and a wash these days. A check of my receipt revealed that I had paid $11.95 for the “Full Service Wash” (their cheapest) and I’d gotten 16.065 gallons of gas @ $1.099. A buck-nine for gas???
Turns out that while the sign out front said that $2.09 the pump was mis-set to sell Super-Unleaded for $1.09 per gallon.
When ME told the attendent all chaos and panic had broken loose because the machine had been mis-set like that for days. Someone was likely fired, and even thought ME thought to offer to make up the difference (even though it being an honest payment on his part he’d have no reason to) and because of his honest deal he owed nothin.
Returning to my car, I laid a big gratuity on the guy who’d swabbed it down with rags. He asked me what all the fuss was and I told him, including the part about someone being fired. He moaned in sadness. “Friend of yours?” I asked. He said, “No…I was just meaning to get my car filled with gas here this morning.”
Mark Evanier had to open his big yap and ruin a good thing. I kid, of course. I’m a big fan of his writing and I admire most of his integrity. I just wouldn’t have brought up the faulty pump; my tendency is to shrug my shoulders and move on.

A Bat-Jedi?
Posted on February 12th, 2004 No commentsAccording To Yahoo Liam Neeson is in final negotiations to star opposite Christian Bale in the Christopher Nolan-helmed Batman movie. The role Neeson would be playing was not mentioned.
Also according to this article Michael Caine has signed to play Alfred. Last I heard that was still a rumor.
