if we don’t start posting new junk soon, I’m going to start talking politcs

As it is…. am I the only one who thinks that old guys Morgan Freeman and Harrison Ford wearing earrings actually makes the two look less dignified?

Moreover: Does it make them look stupid?

A larger question of course is why would old dudes embrace the “fashions” and trends of the young? Is it emulation? Is it an internal psyche issue or an external projection that they wish people would percieve in a specific manner?

I believe it makes these otherwise wizened folk seem less respectable, in a manner even greater than the effect that excessive piercings have on young males.

and I haven’t even started talking politics yet.

Usually that sort of behavior is a result of the inability to age gracefully — no shock for Hollywood types, for whom aging is the ultimate sin. Ford took it a step further by having a full-blown midlife crisis and divorcing his wife of 18 or more years in order to hookup with a cheap tart young enough to be his daughter.

I don’t buy the “fashion statement” excuse; both Freeman and Ford have had enough clout for years that they could have worn earrings decades ago without hurting their careers. It’s only now that they’re feeling their age that they see a need to grab on to any youthful accoutrement they can find, be it ear candy or arm candy. When are they going to get tats??

I’m 40 and never been one to be “young trendy”. I usually dress pretty average. i.e. jeans and golf shirt, etc. What I think is even stranger is how old people suddenly dress in the complete opposite of youthful trendy. When do women decide they have to started wearing tacky polyester pants that are common only to fast food employees?
