NetHack has been around for twenty years, the work of literally dozens of people, working together and for no financial compensation. A product of the old USENET-dominated web ethos, in which collaboration and not self-promotion was king, it is legendary for its devoted following, its punishing difficulty, and its defiantly old-school game play and “graphics”.But, is it a good game?
