Podcast 11: Iron Man 3 and Star Trek Into Darkness

Tuesday, October 1st, 2013

Erik Burnham and I finally get to review two summer hits, Iron Man 3 and Star Trek 2, er, Into Darkness.  Includes my discovery of the key difference of J.J. Abrams’ version of Star Trek, and our proposal of how Wil Wheaton can save Star Trek.  We also talk about MCBA FallCon, which we will be attending October 5th at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.

Also mentioned:  How It Should Have Ended and their version of Iron Man 3.

And Red Letter Media’s Mr. Plinkett reviews of Star Trek and Star Wars.  I know it’s gauche to link to things that everyone on the planet knows about.  Oddly enough, neither Erik nor our TOS-obsessed friend John Morgan Neal has seen them.

Podcast 10: Man of Steel

Friday, July 12th, 2013

Michael Hutchison discusses the new Man of Steel movie with Erik Burnham, writer of Ghostbusters, TMNT, and Scarlet Spider.

Podcast 9: Superman Movies (Lost Podcast #3)

Sunday, April 21st, 2013

Just in time for Superman’s 75th Anniversary, here is our podcast about the Superman movies.  It was recorded in early 2010..so forgive my foolish yearnings at the end to see a Green Lantern movie.  This is probably the best-sounding and most ambitious podcast, although I actually didn’t bother to go through and remove ums and ahs like I usually do.. It has music and I learned some new Adobe tricks.  Believe it or not, the original MP3 file of this 75 minute recording was 108 megs!  I shrunk it down to 18, but it’s still huge.  I hope this will tide you over for a little while.

This will be the last of our Lost Podcasts, and Erik and I will be recording some new material soon.  What do YOU want us to discuss?  Leave a note in the comments!

Podcast 8: Chatting About Movies Again (Lost Podcast #2)

Sunday, March 17th, 2013

This is the second of our “Lost Podcasts.”  Erik Burnham and I both worked in video stores so as often happens, while gearing up to record a discussion about something else, we just get talking about movies…and it turns into a whole ‘nother podcast!

Podcast 7: Our 2009 Christmas Gifts (Lost Podcast #1)

Thursday, February 14th, 2013

In January 2010, Erik Burnham and I recorded a fun discussion of what we had gotten for Christmas.  And then, for reasons technical and personal, editing took forever and then they fell by the wayside…but were not forgotten!  Just in time for Valentine’s Day 2013… it’s “What did you get for Christmas 2009?”  This is the first of several “Lost Podcasts” that we will be rolling out in rapid succession, to then be followed by new podcasts.

Discussed in this podcast:

Batman Watches, Femme Noir, PS238, X-Men, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Bone, The Art of Joe Jusko, Bloom County … oh, and kvetching about the 2009 Star Trek

Podcast 6: Avatar and More

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

Erik and I did a pile of podcasts in January, and it’s taking me a while to edit them. However, I couldn’t let Avatar hit shelves without posting Erik’s thoughts on it and several other films (then in theaters, now on DVD).

Podcast 5: Superman’s 50th Anniversary TV Special

Friday, January 1st, 2010

Podcast 5 is up…and it’s still 2009! I promised Erik Burnham that I would have all of our older recordings published before the end of 2009… and I have 1/2 hour left to make that promise KEPT. This one’s less than 10 minutes long. Just a brief recording that wasn’t worth throwing out, despite some audio problems, because I relate to Erik an old TV Special that I enjoyed.

I don’t even have any Amazon links for this one, because sadly enough, it was never released on video.

Podcast 4: Chatting about Movies and Star Trek

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

This started out as a test of my new equipment to see if the sound quality improved (it did). Unfortunately, you should not get two guys with extensive video store clerking experience chatting about random movies. We talked for about 50 minutes! We learn that Erik pronounces “bio-pic” without the hyphen. I tend to be vocabulary-challenged and say “like”, “um” and “you know” way too much. I prepare for an MST3K version of Star Trek, and my brother ruins “Fellowship of the Ring” forever. Also, who wants us to do a list of “Great movies you may not have seen?” (Erik talks over my sarcastic line, “Have you ever heard of The Princess Bride?” Could have been a gem. Oh well.)

Recorded June 30th. I had to laugh when I heard what I say at 55:05.

Mentioned in this podcast:
Erik’s “Creature Stole My Twinkie” T-shirt on Zazzle; we also discuss blogging at his Burnhamania site.

Podcast 3: Batman Movies, Part 3

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

Tune in for our third and final Batman podcast, sponsored by TooManyLongboxes.com. No, we’re not doing the podcast quarterly! We now have better equipment and will turn them around much faster. Here is the last of the three Batman podcasts that I recorded in January with Erik Burnham.  The sound is improved, but after this one they should all sound as good as my introduction to this third installment.

Discussed:

Batman Begins
The Dark Knight
What’s Next?

In case you missed them:

Batman movies podcast Part 1
Batman movies podcast Part 2

Podcast 2: Batman Movies, part 2

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

Our second podcast is finally here, sponsored by TooManyLongboxes.com. In honor of the 20th anniversary of Mr. Mom playing Batman, Erik Burnham and I review the Batman movies directed by Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher.

Podcast 1: Batman Movies, part 1

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

Our first podcast, sponsored by TooManyLongboxes.com. Erik Burnham and I discuss the Batman movies from the serials to the Adam West era. This was an experiment and the sound is a bit mediocre. My apologies to Erik that this took over a month to edit and post. The next one, needless to say, will be better.
