what I hate about super speedster fights

Monday, August 26th, 2013

They seem awfully arbitrary.

Would a fight between two super-speedsters be like two normal guys fighting? After all, to each other they’re not moving at super speed at all, but normal speed relative to one another. Should a punch for one have relativistic effects?

So if one is in the air and is no longer moving at super speed and can not affect his position the other is attacking at high speed, right? Can one attack the other with super speed when the other is stationary and still have it be super speed or is it still just normal speed?

Why do they run? When/if I fight another normal person I don’t run around while punching him in the face. I just punch a guy. How does running grant the Flash an advantage over Reverse Flash if they’re really just running at a slow speed relative to one another. Olympic athletes wouldn’t have a fist fight like this.

And that is just what makes no damn sense in a fight BETWEEN super speedsters. What about a fight between a super speedster and a guy without super powers?

RandomGuy Teaching #1 – Ian McKellan

Friday, August 16th, 2013

Michael Agrusso, aka RandomGuy, begins his series teaching his viewers, us, how he performs various specific voices one by one, starting with Ian McKellan.

For those not in the know, ItsJustSomeRandomGuy is the one that creates all of those “I’m a Marvel and I’m a DC” vidoes on YouTube, parodying the “I’m a Mac” “I’m a PC” promotions from way back when. I still hate Justin Long.

It is always a little weird seeing his actual face with the different voices coming out.

Breaking Bad Star Trek animated thingima

Thursday, August 15th, 2013

All I have to say is that there were no replicators in the original Star Trek series. Also I have never seen Breaking Bad so if you want adequate context you are out of luck there.

Brent Spiner on Night Court

Sunday, August 11th, 2013

I have never heard of this one, but then my memories of Night Court are hazy at best.

John DiMaggio is a pop icon?

Saturday, August 10th, 2013

Well I can buy that Bender is a pop icon.

Even John DiMaggio had a beginning

Friday, August 9th, 2013

John DiMaggio had an origin story?

I guess so!

When you have a gulf or distinction in the state of being between what you are now as a profession and what you were then I suppose it qualifies as an origin story.

John DiMaggio talking about Adventure Time

Thursday, August 8th, 2013

I have no idea what Adventure Time is.

But the internet will help us here.

Come to think of it I think I saw a fraction of this show while I was in a video rental store looking for a job application.

John DiMaggio on the formula for Bender

Wednesday, August 7th, 2013

Voice actor John DiMaggio, known to many of us for voicing Bender on Futurama and a nearly spot-on Joker in the Batman Red Hood straight-to-DVD movie, tells us about he puts together various elements of impressions and vocal artifacts to perform his Bender voice.

I will say outright that due to the limitations of biology and physiognomy I can almost instantly detect John DiMaggio behind a character he plays. Yet this certainly is not a knock because despite what all of his characters have in common to make the man recognizable his characters do not sound at all like John DiMaggio. Bender does not sound like John DiMaggio. I did not know that until I saw this video.

Tom Kenny interview on voice acting

Wednesday, August 7th, 2013

I don’t care about Spongebob and that is Tom Kenny’s claim to fame but I know him as Starscream and the Penguin, among others.

I cannot believe that interviewer host guy on “Attack of the Show” has this job.  That sounds too mean.  I hope he never interviews me for a job.

Deadpool the video game!?

Wednesday, July 31st, 2013

I was aware. Now this playlist has the wonderful walkthrough and some other stuff. Spoilers abound.

I won’t watch this for I don’t have that much data, nor hours to watch it, and I want to play this game spoiler free.

All of that said of course I can embed this video as well, which features a lot of the wonderful jokes.

I cannot watch this either for the same reason.

Tom Selleck as Indiana Jones

Thursday, March 28th, 2013

We have known for years that Tom Selleck was nearly cast as Indiana Jones, the only obstacle being the television phenomena MAGNUM, P.I. but here is something I have not seen, at least to my memory.  Here is a screen test for Tom Selleck for RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK.

Now I refuse to make a direct comparison to Harrison Ford’s performance. Either way I reckon the quality of the films would be a constant. I have no doubt that Harrison Ford’s career was greatly benefited by this.

It is nearly impossible to say about Tom Selleck and whether he was better off with the many years of that great television show or this film. I will say definitively that for the period of time between MAGNUM, P.I. and now the actor has received less and worse than what he deserved.

How to post YouTube videos in a WordPress blog

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Update: Some say that only Admins can post…which makes no sense at all.  I’m checking into that.

I was going to make this a private page just for my fellow Monitor Duty authors, but then I realized that there may be many non-MonitorDuty users who could be having the same problem and this might come in handy.

Everyone else can just skip this post. No geek goodness will be discussed herein.

I can’t believe Birds of Prey was canceled. I loved that book. Oh! Oh, right. How to do a YouTube video in a WordPress site.

My guess is that most of you are trying to do it via “QuickPress”, the little area on the Dashboard home page.

Don’t use QuickPress.

Don’t ever use it, really, since it doesn’t offer categories and tags, and I want everyone who posts to categorize their post and, if possible, tag it as well.  Otherwise, I just have to clean up the posts later.

What you want to do is go to the “Posts” section and choose “Add New”.  (Your view may not match mine, as I have Admin level authority and I’ve applied a style to my view, but you should be able to find it.) step-1-always-use-add-new-under-posts When you are ready to paste in your YouTube video code, click the right tab that says “HTML”. step-2-switch-to-html-using-tab-on-right Then, paste in Embed code for the YouTube video.  You can then either switch back to “Visual” for further editing/writing, or hit “Publish”. step-3-paste-in-the-youtube-code Voila!

Oh, you can also use the “Embed Video” icon and just paste in the URL for the video.  I’m going to test that out:

Secret Wars Reenactment Society

Doesn’t look like that worked.  What ARE they smoking over at the WordPress documentation site?

Hutch! make embedded media work!

Took me an hour to post a ten minute dealy and it will not work.

embedding youtube is supposed to be elementary!

(if the video doesn’t show, Hutch must fix it)

Talk about nightmare fuel!!!
