Podcast #5 is up…and it’s still 2009!
Posted on January 1st, 2010 No commentsI promised Erik Burnham that I would have all of our older recordings published before the end of 2009… and I have 1/2 hour left to make that promise KEPT. This one’s less than 10 minutes long. Just a brief recording that wasn’t worth throwing out, despite some audio problems, because I relate to Erik an old TV Special that I enjoyed.
I don’t even have any Amazon links for this one, because sadly enough, it was never released on video.

Amazing this isn’t on DVD yet
Posted on October 24th, 2007 No commentsDana Carvey’s short-lived variety show was some of the first prominent work for Steve Carrell and Stephen Colbert. It launched The Ambiguously Gay Duo, who later moved to Saturday Night Live. And if not for the Dana Carvey Show, Phil Hartman would be alive today.
How’s that? Well, it’s true.
Phil Hartman was in talks to do his own variety show after leaving Saturday Night Live. However, Dana Carvey beat him to the punch with his “Dana Carvey Show” variety show. The show tanked, and Phil’s network balked at the idea of another SNL alum launching a doomed variety effort. This led to his doing a sitcom instead, the crazily wonderful Newsradio with the crazy cokehead Andy Dick, who later gave cocaine to Hartman’s wife Brynn and we all know how great that turned out.
Imagine how awful Dana Carvey must feel when he looks in the mirror and thinks, “If only I hadn’t had Bill Clinton breast-feeding babies in the first episode…”
Anyway, on that pleasant note, enjoy:
This one’s my favorite. Does anyone remember the Freemen Ranch?
